Film is alive - part III
As said, we did an experiment with last wedding: one photographer digital, one photographer with film… here are some interesting results:
- digital shot three times more pictures (1400 shots vs 12 films), however, the amount of 'keepers' will be the same
- post processing time will be about 10 hours extra for digital
- since we work with Contax rangefinders, the film equipment is far much lighter and therefore more comfortable to carry around.
- 'bokeh' on full frame is far more nicer than on a crop camera.
With both media, we can cover a complete wedding, without doubt. Film will be more expensive on the long term but results in less hours working behind a computer.
From a photographers point of view, I like the images taken with the rangefinders more, but this has nothing to do with film or digital, but more with the superb quality of lenses this system uses.
This year we were shooting digital, where we used film to fool around. I think next year will be the other way around: shooting mainly with film, and play with digital…
