Too expensive?

Next time when you go shopping and you think it might be too expensive, think of this:

"There is hardly anything in the world that someone cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price alone are that person's lawful prey.

It is unwise to pay too much, but it is also unwise to pay too little.

When you pay too much, you lose a little money, that is all.

When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything because the thing you bought is incapable of doing the thing you bought it to do.

The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot... It can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder it is well to add something for the risk you run. And if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better."

John Ruskin, 1819 – 1900

Just food for thought...

I love rangefinders!

I am a huge fan of rangefinder cameras (for those who do not know what is a rangefinder, think of Leica and there you have it): they are light, silent, quick and can do the (journalistic) job, although they are in Croatia quite rare.

This weekend I went to a blues concert and wanted to take some pictures, without disturbing anyone. Not with a flash, not with the noisy shutter. And I wanted to capture the atmosphere.

Of course a blues photo asks for a b/w print, or better a lith print. Here it is: Dana Gillespie in BP Club

Wedding customs

Something old, something blue, Something borrowed, something new.

Why do we do what we do on a wedding day? The Canadian photostudio 'Red Leaf' made a summary on their 'Red Leaf' blog with the most common habits on your wedding day.

Curious? Take a look, and while you are there, check out their great images as well. They have really wonderful work in their own style.

Happy 2008

Of course I do wish every one a nice and lovely 2008. I'd rather wish every one that in person with a nice glass of rakija, but that will take to long.

Yesterday my new project, 52 portraits was launched and within 24 hours the site had more then 1.000 visitors! A very nice start.

As for weddings, we had a nice start as well. We booked already some new weddings in the first days of this year and we received many enquiries. And for those who like to plan in advance, from now on bookings for 2009 will be taken…
