Wow ...

Who will win an engagement session?

I received many reactions and it was a hard task to select the two most original ones, but here they are, a long version and a shorter one:

1. Anamarija: Although even a public toilet can be extremely romantic when u're there with someone special, I must say that I still cherish one other place as "most romantic" for me. The reason why that place always makes me mysteriously smile whenever I pass by it are - the memories. It is a place in Omiš, little town in Dalmatia where we first met. It's called "stone cube" because it's made of huge stones in a way the form a cube, and it's by the beach. The air is magical, the smell of salt... the sound of waves extremely relaxing... It's the place where I first realized that he isn't just "another guy" and that he's very much different from all the people I've known by then. We talked and talked whole night long, about so many things (but I still remember most of them, opposite to those we talked about a month ago :)) and at 11:36 pm he clicked on his watch and said: "So... you know what I'm gonna ask you now?" Yes, of course I knew, but I giggled and said "I know nothing..." "Well, I was wondering if you, if we can try, I mean I'd like you to be my girlfriend." "Well, I guess we could try..." my heart beated so strongly, and I was even a bit afraid of the feeling. I'll never forget that moment and that's why when we pass that place I always hold his hand tighter, and he always kisses me.. as a reminder :) It's been 7 and a half years from that moment and it still feels like love grows each day. And yes, there are much more romantic places - he even proposed on Plivice lakes, by The great waterfall, we've been all over Croatia and further but nothing's so sweet as the place where it all began...

2. Kristina: „Romantično mjesto???? Naš dom, suncem okupane ulice, naše omiljeno mjesto gdje idemo na čevape, ukratko svagdje gdje smo ON i ja...zajedno. Ljubav smo mi, zar ne? Mi činimo mjesto posebnim, a ne mjesto nas. Ne trebaju nam riječi, dovoljan mi je njegov pogled se bilo gdje osjećam posebnom i voljenom.“

In a recent article David Beckstead discussed the beauty of flare and especially the last paragraph is very inspiring written and has the following message: 'take the safe shot and then start to play!'

Since mr. Beckstead recently was listed in the top 10 of best wedding photographers in the world who am I to question him? If he says to take the safe shot and then play, I will take the safe shot and then play!

However, I will not only play with flare, I will play with light! I promised myself this years wedding season to be more experimental. Don’t worry; I will get the safe shot, the shot needed for you, for the album. And then I will play …

Coming Saturday I have the honor to photograph a wedding again and I can’t wait to start to play, to see the light differently, with more awareness and to capture it on film. There is no bad light: I will play!

As expected the Sajam Vjenčanja in Zagreb was a great success, especially the fashion show organized by Agancija Sandra who managed to get Croatia most beautiful boys and girls on stage.

Another important meeting I have with my couples is around two weeks after the wedding when they receive the 'proofs' (digital low resolution files used for viewing your photos).

Depending on the wedding I deliver around 300 – 400 images from which you can choose and now the 'though' part really starts! Now you should slowly make up your mind and have to tell me:

1. if you would like to have a real weddingalbum and which one (examples).
2. if you would like to have a wedding book as well
3. small books for your parents and kumovi
4. how many photos and which size
5. digital files so you can reprint your images
6. extra slideshows etc. etc.

Although many couples think they will be quick with selecting their wedding photos it often takes them a while :) which is fine with me, after all, you marry only once! And when you made your choices it is time for me to design your items.

Many people do not realize it, but one wedding takes me around 30 hours (roughly ten hours shooting, ten hours post processing [photoshop] and ten hours album design) and honestly I do not know what I enjoy more: photographing, editing your photos or designing a wonderful book but in any case the most rewarding part is the smile (or sometimes even the tears of happiness) from my couple when I give them the album or book…

For the couples who go to the ‘Sajam Vjenčanja’: enjoy! And if you’re still looking for a photographer, keep in mind that your wedding album must be the most beautiful memory of a wonderful day!
